Cherry treetops

Cotton grass

And googly eyes

Tuning into the cloudy brain forecast

The night calls for

rolling thunder 

and starless skies

Near the neighbor's lawn

the wind whistles with a false bravado

While the flies at Starbucks

whisper like lovers’ sparrows

The rain could taste a bit better with a pinch of pepper

But the Moon keeps spinning

And that lazy Susan will swindle forever

Melting polka dots

Mismatched socks

And lovers rock

The clouds are mixing up a cold brew of absurdity

Any minute now

lightning will strike

And my coffee will be ready
